Overview
Smallstoriez operates the Smallstoriez app and the website at www.smallstoriez.com. The app helps parents and guardians create $9.99 personalized illustrated stories for young children, including animated reading moments and read-aloud support.
We do not sell personal information, do not use behavioral advertising, and do not use the website to track families across other websites. The app experience is parent-led: a parent or guardian chooses what names, photos, and story prompts to provide.
Information we handle
Depending on how you use Smallstoriez, the following information may be handled by the app or by services used to provide app features:
- Story prompts, themes, and instructions entered by a parent or guardian.
- Names, nicknames, or character descriptions that a parent or guardian chooses to include in a story.
- Photos selected by a parent or guardian to create character art, caricatures, or story illustrations.
- Generated stories, generated images, saved story pages, local family library content, and optional restore metadata.
- Purchase and store validation information, such as app-store platform, purchase status, transaction identifiers, and token hashes used to validate paid story creation.
- Support information, such as your email address and the message you send to support@smallstoriez.com.
- Basic technical information needed for app operation, such as device type, operating system, app version, error details, and service request metadata.
Smallstoriez does not ask children to create accounts or provide contact details. Parents and guardians should only enter information they are comfortable using to create a story.
AI processing
Smallstoriez uses server-side AI features to generate stories, character art, illustrations, animation-ready scenes, and read-aloud related story experiences. The OpenAI API key is stored server-side and is not included in the mobile app. When you use these features, prompts, selected photos, character descriptions, and story text may be sent from the app to Smallstoriez backend services and then to AI service providers so the requested content can be created.
AI-generated content can be imperfect. Parents and guardians should review stories and images before reading them with a child. Do not enter sensitive information, private addresses, medical details, financial details, or anything you do not want processed for story generation.
Children's privacy
Smallstoriez is intended to be used by parents and guardians for the benefit of children. Children should use the app with parent or guardian involvement. We do not knowingly collect contact information directly from children, and we do not knowingly use children's personal information for behavioral advertising.
If you believe a child provided information to Smallstoriez without parent or guardian consent, contact us at support@smallstoriez.com. We will review the request and take appropriate steps, including deletion when required.
Parent choices and deletion
Parents and guardians control the prompts, names, photos, and stories they choose to create. You can delete local stories and app content from your device using the app or device controls available to you.
Smallstoriez may keep limited backend generation records for restore, abuse prevention, failed-generation support, purchase validation, and deletion handling. The MVP retention target is 180 days unless a shorter period is required or a parent requests deletion that can be honored sooner.
To request help deleting information associated with Smallstoriez support requests or AI-generated content, email support@smallstoriez.com with the subject line "Data deletion request." You can also visit the data deletion instructions on our support page.
Security and retention
Smallstoriez uses reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect family information. No app, website, or internet service can guarantee perfect security.
We keep support messages for as long as needed to respond and maintain service records. App content stored on your device remains under your device control. Backend generation records may be stored in Firebase services, and generated images may be stored only when needed for recovery or support. Information processed by AI service providers is handled according to the services needed to generate the requested story or illustration.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Smallstoriez changes. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide notice in a reasonable way, such as on this website or in the app.
